Farda, Richard
Richard Farda, 70, of New York Mills, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on Tuesday November 11, 2008 at the Masonic Care Community, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 1, 1938 in Utica a son of the late Mario and Carmella (Bottini) Farda. He was a United States Navy Veteran. On November 28, 1959 he married Joan Homa, Joan passed away on December 15, 2007.
He was employed for many years with the Whitesboro Central Schools, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Our Lady of Rosary Church, and the New Hartford American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters Sandra Slowik and her Husband Peter of Waukesha, WI, Michele De Cicco and her husband Anthony Jr. of New York Mills, and Patricia Treen also of New York Mills. His cherished grandchildren, John, Lucas, and Trey Slowik, Matthew and Brittani De Cicco and Steven Treen. He also leaves his in laws Emily Lenard, Lorraine Decker, Sophie and William Wiswell, Karen and Kenneth Bloomfield, Elaine and Ronald Roman, Wanda and Dean Galusha, Robert and Marion Grabowski, Joseph Homa, David and Debra Homa, and Angelo Cardone also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Rose Cardone.
The family wishes to offer a special thank you to Stephanie Tanoury, and also the Masonic Care Community, Windham Household Unit for the wonderful care complemented by true compassion that was given to Richard and his family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home 40 Main St. Whitesboro and at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yorkville. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
